I'm an avid Ironman Triathlete who loves to be on the go - constantly going from one workout to the next. I not only love to swim-bike-run but also incorporate weight & strength training, pilates, hot yoga and cross country skiing in the winter (when I can find the time to fit it in!). I believe a good balance in life is key and finding time to hang out with friends and relax is crucial to being successful.

I want swimming to b my sport for life. I started in a competitive program at the age of 5 after almost drowning as a child and have been swimming ever since. I swam very seriously from my mid-teens to my mid-twenties and now it is part of a more balanced training plan. Of late I have been involved in open water swimming, triathlons and whitewater kayaking.

A body changes so much during pregnancy, its not surprising that many women start to look at different types of exercise to help keep them in shape, with the belly, of course, being a major area of concern. I get a lot of calls from pregnant women who want to know more about pilates and pregnancy. My general rule is that if you’ve been active prior to your pregnancy, its okay to incorporate pilates into your routine. But if you haven’t been active, its best to wait until after giving birth to begin any pilates program.

We will go in 3-5 small caves at 2 or 3 different locations. The day usually last 5-6 hours. You will walk a few kilometers to get to some of the caves. In the caves, you will crawl, belly crawl, go through small spaces and squeezes, and do some climbing. You will get dirty, scraped, and most likely a little scared and bruised (and you will love it). Note: these are not walking caves.

What do you get when you combine a geologist and an investment fund manager? A neighbourhood cross training community centre, that's what. Mike Peshko and Marcus Turner, waded into the world of gym life back in April 2006 after being teased with the notion of starting something "active" , stoked by their participation in multiple marathons, bike racing and adventure racing. "We thought we would go into adventure retail, then some hybrid of retail, coffee shop and gym and it migrated to what we are today, a neighbourhood alternative to the big gym" mentioned Mike. In RPM, they have combined a unique blendf spinning, gravity and personal training situated just west of High Park's front entrance in an airy 2 1/2 story lounge-type of setting. You can perceive the intentional dialing back of the hyper-competitive cyclist spirit by the yoga-esque, pastel-colour laden messages on their first stairway landing "improve", "energy", "balance" and "strength" - the atmosphere feels more zen and less hard-edged. Marcus adds "'we recognize that gyms suffer from the interested, eager person who tries the experience out for a month and never comes back again. In our experience, creating fitness routines in a social environment keeps people coming back. Whereas big gyms have high levels of lapsed users that may feel depersonalized, we tend to have high degree of loyal, committed members who view us as a much looked forward to part of their week."
